| There are many wonderful things about FANTASIA! |
Whether you're a kid, a parent, a grandparent or just a couple who are young at heart, FANTASIA is an enchanting experience. How it came to Hartford is a story that sounds like it came out of "Highway to Heaven." But it's true.
Eight years ago, my wife, Jan and I along with our two children, Frank Junior and Lindsey, were spending the holidays down in Florida visiting with my mother, Connie. We'd gone out to dinner several times, had spent lots of time together. Trying to find something that would entertain all of us from a 74 year old grandmother to her pre adolescent grandchildren was the challenge.
A neighbor of my mother's suggested a drive-through light show. We went the first time and were amazed... we'd never seen anything like it! Before we returned to Connecticut, we returned to the light show a couple more times. It was a gift for us to be able to spend the time this way together—relaxed and having fun.
I come from a family of producers and I knew this event had to be transplanted to a location in Connecticut. I also come from a family of Hartford-born residents and I knew it should happen in Greater Hartford. We found a warm welcome from the Friends of Goodwin Park and knew we had found our location. Next, we met with The City of Hartford and the Town of Wethersfield and knew we had found our home. Finally, we met with Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Eva Wickwire, Special Projects Manager for CCMC, shared our vision for FANTASIA before it existed. We knew we had found all our partners for this huge endeavor.
Whatever your plans for this holiday season, we hope you'll take an evening -- or two - to visit FANTASIA. Remember, it's up to you to create holiday memories. Let them be filled with festivity, light, comfort and Joy!
